Cotswolds Garden - FAQs
Frequently asked gardening related questions
Rose scale insects appear as small, white, limpet-like bumps on stems and canes. They suck sap, weakening the plant and causing sticky honeydew. For light infestations, scrape them off with a fingernail or stiff brush. For heavier infestations, apply horticultural oil (winter wash) during the dormant season to smother overwintering eggs and nymphs. Systemic insecticides may be used as a last resort, but organic methods are preferred.
