Frequently asked gardening related questions

Do I need to use fertiliser? What kind?

Fertiliser helps plants grow strong and healthy, especially in nutrient-poor soils. Here's a basic guide:

  • Organic fertilisers: Compost, bone meal, fish emulsion - slow-release and safe.
  • Synthetic fertilisers: Fast-acting but must be used carefully to avoid overfeeding.

Look for NPK values on the label:

  • N = Nitrogen (leaf growth)
  • P = Phosphorus (root and flower growth)
  • K = Potassium (overall health)

For most vegetables, a balanced fertiliser like 10-10-10 is a good start.
