Frequently asked gardening related questions
The "edge effect" is a permaculture principle that observes how the boundary or interface between two different ecosystems (e.g., forest and grassland, or land and water) tends to be more diverse and productive than either habitat alone. In design, this means increasing edges (e.g., creating winding paths, keyhole beds, or complex pond shapes) to maximise the beneficial interactions, biodiversity, and yields from these productive transition zones.
