In the UK's generally mild and rainy climate, watering the lawn isn't always necessary. However, during dry spells in late spring or summer, especially in southern England, lawns may need watering once or twice a week. Aim to give about 1 inch (25 mm) of water per week. Water early in the morning to reduce evaporation and allow moisture to penetrate deeply. Deep, occasional watering is more effective than light, frequent sprinkling, as it encourages grass roots to grow deeper and become more drought-resistant.
