Cotswolds Garden - FAQs
Frequently asked gardening related questions
While the UK climate is generally not ideal for citrus trees outdoors year-round, it is possible with careful management. In most regions, citrus trees are best grown in large containers, allowing them to be moved indoors to a conservatory, unheated greenhouse, or a very bright, cool room for protection during the colder winter months.
They are not reliably hardy in the average UK winter and will suffer frost damage. Some of the hardier varieties, like certain calamondin or specific bitter oranges, might tolerate mild UK winters in exceptionally sheltered, south-facing spots, especially in the warmest coastal areas. Ensure good drainage and plenty of sunlight during the growing season.
