The initial purchase cost of cordless tools (especially including battery and charger) can sometimes be higher than equivalent corded electric tools. They can be comparable to, or sometimes slightly more than, entry-level petrol tools. However, the overall long-term cost can be lower when considering fuel savings, reduced maintenance, and the ability to expand your tool collection with 'bare' tools using an existing battery platform.
