Cotswolds Garden - FAQs
Frequently asked gardening related questions
In permaculture, weeds are not seen as inherently bad, but rather as "plants out of place" or indicators of soil conditions. They are often pioneer species that are trying to heal damaged or compacted soil, bring up specific nutrients, or cover bare ground. Instead of eradication, permaculture seeks to understand the weed's function and either work with it (e.g., chop and drop as mulch) or address the underlying soil issue that the weed is indicating. Persistent weeding is minimised through mulching and dense planting, fostering healthier soil where desired plants thrive.
