November. The countdown to Winter
Cotswolds Garden 1st November 2019
Well the clocks have gone back, and with it an immediate loss of an hour of daylight in the late afternoon. And a few more minutes are lost each day.
Collecting the fallen leaves is seemingly a daily task, before the make a mess of the lawn.
But it's not all doom and gloom. Bulb planting continues, with thoughts of the spectacular display next year.
The rain has eased off, for the moment, but everything is still so wet. But to look on the bright side, that makes it an ideal time to mulch retain the moisture and also suppress weeds.
As soon as the grass is dry enough, I will be looking to aerate the lawns before the ground is too frozen to be able to sink the garden fork in deep enough.
It may be cold and wet, but there's still plenty to do in the Cotswold Garden. Happy November!
