October arrives in the Cotswolds Garden

Cotswolds Garden 1st October 2019

Well as quickly as September arrived, with its mix of warm 'Indian Summer' days (the mercury hit 26.4 degrees on the 21st) and seemingly endless rainfall during the last ten days or so, October is here!

The air has turned crisp, the mornings are misty, and there's that unmistakable scent of autumn in the garden: damp soil, decaying leaves, and the last of the summer blooms hanging on bravely. Trees are beginning to turn golden and russet, and it won?t be long before the lawn is scattered with fallen leaves needing regular attention.

Keep visiting the Cotswolds Garden website this month for more photos, seasonal gardening advice, and fresh articles (including one about Lyme Disease and how to stay safe outdoors during tick season).

We'll also be sharing plant highlights, some of our favourite autumn colour combinations, and tips for preparing your beds and borders for winter.

And to keep you busy in the garden this month, see our page on jobs to do in the garden during October - from bulb planting and pruning to clearing summer containers and collecting seeds for next year.

Happy Autumn Gardening!
