Cotswolds Garden - FAQs

Frequently asked gardening related questions

How should I protect my olive tree in winter?

Although mature olive trees can tolerate temperatures down to -10 degrees C, protection is recommended during harsh UK winters - especially for young or potted trees. Wrap the trunk and main branches in horticultural fleece or bubble wrap and mulch around the base to protect roots.

For container-grown trees, move them into a cold greenhouse, conservatory, or against a sheltered south-facing wall.

Avoid overwatering in winter, as cold wet soil can cause root rot.
