Potted magnolias require more regular feeding than those in the ground due to limited soil volume. During the growing season (spring to late summer), feed every 4-6 weeks with a balanced liquid fertiliser formulated for acid-loving plants. Alternatively, you can use a slow-release granular fertiliser applied once in early spring. Ensure the compost remains moist before fertilising to prevent root burn. Reduce or cease feeding during autumn and winter when the plant is dormant.
