In the UK, mulching grass clippings is often beneficial, especially during the growing season. The clippings decompose quickly and return valuable nutrients, like nitrogen, to the soil. This practice - known as grasscycling - reduces the need for fertiliser and improves soil health. However, if the grass is long or wet, mulching may leave clumps that smother the lawn, in which case bagging or collecting clippings is better. A mulching mower makes the process more effective by finely chopping the clippings.
